Steering Column For Mk1

Anyone know how much i can pick up a power steering rack/column for a Mk1 Clio?

If it's due to play in the column mate just get it welded - will be much cheaper all round.

the columns too far gone to weld, wanna see a price for a new or 2nd hand column

New is £150 iirc

New from Renault is £175 inc VAT

Off to pick one up from a breakers for £25 and then gettin fitted for pennies

looked on BB's website and they charge £280!!!

Its never too far gone to get it welded, the one you get from the scrap yard will probably have play in it also, easier, cheaper, much better to get it welded.

The garage showed me how far gone a previous customers column was and showed me if he welded it with it that bad it could lock my steering as i had play up and down as well as side to side.

£25 for a column and then welded and fitted for hardly anything, u cant go far wrong

thought about having mine welded but decided to buy a new one from reno £290 fitted,which i think is very steep but now i have piece of mind that it is ok,some people might say you get just as much satisfaction from having it welded but it is down to personal preference.
