Steering has become very light

Hello,

I've just noticed that the steering on my 02 non-sport as become light and somewhat unresponsive. When I go round a corner or pull out from a junction it seems to take me twice if not more turns of the steering wheel as it did before! Any ideas? Going to get the car booked in next week but is there anything I could be checking in the mean time? Thank you/
