steering prob due to 17s

easy all,

got my 17s put onto my 1.2 about 2 weeks now, and i think there are some probs wid my steering and alignment or something.

Firstly, i have to constantly fight (although not too agressively) with my steering wheel as little bumps and ditches causes the wheels/steering to veer in allsorts of directions. Is this due to alignment probs??

Secondly, at about speeds > 60mph, i feel the slightest jumping of the car....which was not there when i had me ol 15s. Anyone know why??

Advice would be great guys. i know i need to take back to garage to get it checked out but am soo soo busy at present.

cheers all

Get the 17´s balanced........ If they are not balanced right the car feels jumpy!! How wide are your tyres?? wider tyres make more contact with the road, and then you need to hold the steeringwheel more when going over bumps ect.....If your car haven´t been lowerd alignment should be ok.

The veering of the steering over bumps is due to tramlining.. you get it when you put big wheels on small cars. I managed to get rid of most of the tramlining on my 172 by swapping the tyres for Uniroyal Rainsports.

For the first couple of weeks it will take getting used to anyway. But yeah if you havent had them balanced, do it!

tyres are 205/40

i dunno if i had them balanced or not.....should they not have been when i bought the wheels wid tyres on?

Thing is, i can turn the steering wheel by about 5 degrees either direction and the car still remains in same direction.....which was not the case with the 15s

the wheels *should* have been balanced when you bought em

however, lately we have had a few sets at work that have been badly balanced, supplier has been informed though and charged for all the balancing of customers wheels

also your tyre pressures will be up around 30+psi no need!!! you want 27psi front 24psi rear is much better

what make are the alloys??? is the car lowered???
