steering

anyone got any good links to welding up my steering column?
I have to turn the wheel around about an inch (prob more) to get it to "bite"
Does it sound like the column or can it be something else?

anyone on here that will weld it up if thats what it needs?
my mate has a welder but it seems like a pain of a job to do if you dont know what your doing (me) :p

easy to do mate just pull up the rubber protector and weld the to the knuckle joint as it meets the colum. ive done loads of cars from this site aswell as williamsclio.co.uk

Just find any competant welder in ure area and pay them to do it, simple job but make sure they weld it all the way round or it could happen again. Ideally ud wanna take it out the car first...

ok sounds like im going to have a go.....:S
Is it the protector from the inside of the car or the outside?
I lifted the one on the inside of the car where the joint is and it seems fine (when i steer it moves the same amount so i was guessing the problem would be further down unless it need to be under more strain than me holding it for it to slip)
