Stereo stopped working

Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with my stereo. its an aftermarket kenwood head unit.

was driving last night listening to music then all of a sudden the lights and everything went out on it and it had no power. i removed the wires from the back and put it back in again still didn't work then i changed the fuse in the back of the stereo and still nothing happened.

any ideas?

cheers

check the wiring between the stereo and fuse box for dead shorts (it may have got hot, melted the insulation and be touching metal of the car). Easy way to check this is to remove and disconnect the head unit, then turn the ignition on. If the fuse doesn't blow, then its probably the head unit.

measure the resistance between the car body and the output terminal of the fuse. It should be high resistance. your clock not working until you turn the lights on could be due to a blown bulb and completely unrelated.
