Following on from this thread ;

I now need to remove the spark plug to get it helicoiled and then new plugs fitted. Problem is the spark plug just spins where it is.

Does anyone know how I can get it out without removing the head? I have been to a place in Leicester today and they were not very confident it can be done, and are worried that trying may do more harm and lead to me needing to replace the head?:cry:

Anyone who knows someone who can do it or can suggest a way round it would be great.

The car is running fine at the moment, but my worry is that if the plug f***s up I cant replace it and so the car can't be driven so I just wanna get it fixed asap.

Cheers, Will

Yeah i have tried, but can't get anything on it to pull with. Its too narrow to get something like a pair of mole grips in!

Car started making the s**t noise again today, so had give the spark plug another twist. As I did it I felt it start spinning differently, few more twists and the plug came out. A small part of the thread was fucked but not much, but the plus side was the plug is out. Walked to halfrads as it was the only place near by and still open. Didn't have NGK, but got some new Bosh plugs. The new plug went in fine. Have taken the car out for a drive, gave it a real hammering and all seems fine! Lucky escape I think!

Yeah, I was a bit gutted that they didn't have the NGK ones in as I have heard they are best, but I couldn't wait as the car is need first thing tomorrow morning. Think I will run them till next service, which isn't too long. Is the a noticeable difference between the two?

Cheers for the link, the bosch ones seem to be fine for now. Will make sure these are fitted at the next service!
