sub question

  Clio 1.4 Fidji
what do you think, this look ok or too big?
cliosubsmall.jpg

had it in my old car, just about fits in clio boot.
also would it sound better without the perspex cover? was thinking of 2 6x9s in back shelf on either side but i saw some posts on here saying dont get them, what would be a better option?
thanks for help

I'd leave that in and amp some comps in the front. Maybe put some half decent small speakers in the back for some fill up of the sound but 6x9's can drag the sound too far back in most set ups.

If you just want out and out volume, then bung the 6x9's in and fade off them when they start to bug you....

I've read that having a sub as big as that and 6x9 in your parcel shelf is a definite no-no as the sub will destroy the 6x9's purely with the amount of air pressure it creates.

  172 coming soon
If that is a recommended enclosure for that sub (going by manufacturer) then leave the perspex on, as its part of the design...

As for 6x9s, stay well away.. they are just a cheap wayof getting Lows, mids and highs in the back of the car, as opposed to Lows from a sub, and mids and highs from components up front.. If you fitted 6x9s along with that sub, you would get sound stage, meaning it will have an echoed effect with the bass from the 6x9s and the sub running into each other, and them stealing the air in the boot as their encolsure, kiiling the sub..

A good install consists of high spec'd components fitted up front running on an amp, and an amped sub in the boot, giving all the frequencies you need :D

No 6x9s and get rid of that sub, SPLX is awful, you will get far superior SQ from a budget spec Rainbox, RE, Genesis, etc sub (go for a 10 or 12 inch).
