subs

  clio 182
seens as tho iv just blew one of the two subs im going to buy fresh rather than fix it or or replace it, iv had them twin vibe black things in a ported box, they wer loud enough for me but obviously as time went on i became used to them and then after they took a slamming of 3 6 mafia's late nite tip the one gave up and died, now it just farts!!

what im getting at is i want sumin loud, iv only got the space of a clio boot, so cant get stupid subs in there, dont know if 15s are better for the loud bass or wether to stick wit the 12"??

whats the best these days mxt jl audio diamond lol thats all i know...

ps maybe a budget of around £800 with amp....

The way I see it, as a general rule the bigger the sub is the deeper the bass is, 10s are great for fast hard dance with really punchy bass, 12s are great for all round stuff and are probably the most flexible for listening to all kinds of music, and a 15 is good for heavy, deep rolling basslines.

If you've blown a sub I'd look into why a little furthur. Under amplification and turning the headunit volume higher to compensate could have got the coils very hot. What are you running?

the subs are these...
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/3455.html
had bass on level 10 thats what i normally run them it goes up to 15 easy so wasnt killing them iv had them for 3 years tho lol

Both links are the same mate.....

The Alpine 9855 is a fine unit, but going from your final statement it would appear you may not fully grasp the effects of 'clip' or indeed how your mono amp & head unit should be set up.....

When using an Alpine head unit the amps gain control should be set with the head unit sub output level at 15, from memory my old 9855r 'clipped' at volume level 32, (but the internal amp was switched off and it was using 10awg main power & earth wiring).....

I reckon you should be looking at an 'ASCENDANT AUDIO' 12" sub in a custom designed ported enclosure....

With regards an amplifier, there was a nice JBL BPX2200 on EBAY a few days ago, 2.5kw rms into 4ohm.....nice....

Hello!
Lol, ok... max boot dimensions whilst still able to mount amplifier onto the back of the box (or the rear bench seat) are... 36" x 18" x 15" thats W x H X D.
You can go upto my new box size... hmmm..... yup thats 36" x 22" (risky 23") x 15".
However with the larger box you will have all the D1cks looking in and far too much attention! If you're like me and always park on secure car parking (gated home)(secure car park at college) then you don't need to worry really.
With the 36" x 18" x 15" i ran a pair of GT5's but it would be great for any 12's really!
It was just under 4 cu ft and tuned to 40hz. That hit HARD! Like in the brain hard!
The larger box could do the same but you could tuned down to 33hz (where typically most folk tune to get a good SPL/ SQ mix!
Look at pricing of a pair of 12's i advise and a decent amplifier.

I run the CDA 9853R the sister unit to your's!
If you still have £800 to spend i recommend these!

I confess i have never heard these, yet, but they do get very good reviews from folk!http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-tsw3001d4-p-5913.html?cadid=h0svhoad9aqaik0q5vcs00ru25 x 2 = £250 ish.
And one of these to power it http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/orion-hccad2400-p-6171.html?cadid=h0svhoad9aqaik0q5vcs00ru25
Then the rest spend on an uprated battery (yellowtop) £150 ish
And the final £150 spend on materials and wiring!

Just my 2p.
PS i still have my box for my pair of 12's if you want it and you're local! Means you don't have to make one and i'm only selling it for £25 so pttt... beat that!

Or another combination

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/orion-hccad2400-p-6171.html?cadid=h0svhoad9aqaik0q5vcs00ru25 same as before just the AA subs!

The first would be better (imo) as they have a higher RMS value, close to that of the amp, so you will not be so keen as to rip them apart! well les than they advise, but lets not start the underpowering arguement!

huge volume and reliability. you get what you pay for.

resonance engineering audio are good too :)

But lack cone area, when he wants SPL more cone area would be better IMO, as more volume means lower tuning which results in diminished SPL and better SQ!
