Subs

Hey all,
Finally some ppl I can chat to about the clio!
Got a few questions that maybe u guys could give me sum advice with - I'm wanting to fit subs in the back of me clio but not sure what to go with. I've got myself a nice big wiring kit cos I plan to run my alpine amp running two 6x9's on a new stealth shelf off the same wiring kit. I also I have a reasonable double 10 inch sub box but I lack subs and an amp. Anyone got any suggestions what I should buy? I want plenty of volume, punch and deep bass but on a budget. Like say 200 quid for two subs and an amp would be good. Also anyone suggest any decent 6x9's and places to get hold of stealth shelves?

For £200 you're not gonna get a super-duper quality amp and subs new so it may be worth trying to go secondhand? I know I always plug it but it is a good site: www.talkaudio.co.uk has the TA exchange section where you might pick up some stuff for a good price, or you could see what's being sold on here.

There's a whole load of other factors that you should take account of but I would consider not getting the 6x9s and amp and going for a good set of components up front. (assuming that you don't already have them! lol)

What head unit have you got? Is it one of these 4x40w ones? You might find that, with the budget you have for subs and an amp, the on-board amp in the HU will be adequate in volume to balance against the bass.

Yeah you are going to struggle at £200 for 2 subs and a amp, talkaudio is a good website but some of it is a bit technical etc, there are quite a few subs etc sold on here so take a look at the other for sale section

I could maybe stretch the budget a bit further but subs and a amp - what brand/prices are we looking at? Currently don't have any new ice fitted but components sound interesting - is that like a set of front door speakers, tweeters and crossovers etc? The HU is a motorised 7" screen unit with 4x50w output.

Oh and I already have one Alpine amp it's a MRP-T130 2/1 channel. I think it's like 240w or near there. I was planning to use this to power the 6x9's but any other sugegstions would be welcomed!

Try www.caraudiosecurity.com. I bought a JBL 12" sub and amp deal - bargain for £125. JBL 10" should be just as good and amp is fantastic, depends how you wire them and how much power you want, amp is 2x100W or 260W bridged, super impressed with it! wouldnt get 6x9s with sub tho, no real need, just some good quality speakers front and back should work best with sub (or two!).
