Suspension spring removal guide

  GW 200T
Is there a guide on here that tells you how to replace the standard front springs on a clio 197/200.
Or any one know how to do it

as per 197net, dont bother if you haven't got the tools or a proper ramp, its bad enough with them!

I've also been searching for a guide, but for a 172. This thread is as close as I've got though...

Going on other threads I've read (without pictures) I assume changing them on a 172/182 isn't as difficult?

I've changed suspension on a few cars (mostly Mk1 Golfs) so I know roughly what I'm doing and have the tools. How difficult a job is it? And is there anything in particular I need to watch out for?

Thanks in advance

Rich

172/182 isn't hard.
Front:
Two bolts at bottom of each strut, then allen key + swan neck spanner/spark plug socket + normal spanner to undo top hat from inside bonnet.
Remove strut. Loosen small nut on top of rubber part/bearing, then remove and swap springs, then bolt everything back on.
Strut back in place, loosely spin top hat on, then bolt up two bolts at bottom. Then tighten everything once on floor.

Rear:
Easy. Jack up car From inside boot, pull off rubber cover, undo nut (use molegrips or similar to stop shock spinning)
Place a jack under rear beam and just let it lower till you can swap the springs over.

There is a full picture guide in the guides section. But you have to be a paid up member.
The bit that is sometimes a b**ch is loosening the top hat on the front suspension. Use lots of penetrating spray, and leave the front wheels on the ground initially to loosen this.
