  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
i need to take my drivers seat out to try and find out how all thies stupid fecking water is getting in my car!!

from what i can see there are 4 bolts under the car, covered by rubber bungs, is it as simple as undoing these and out it comes?

2 bolts by the sill, under the rubber bungs. 2 bolts next to the exhaust, helps if you have a long reach wrench, those 2 can be a ball ache. Have some wd40 ready just in case.

If the seats have to come completely out, you'll need to disconnect the airbag cable, the red bit on the connector comes out first, then squeeze the connector to pull it apart. Don't forget to disconnect the battery -ve terminal first, for at least 15mins.

Yup as warren says disconnect battery and unclip the plug connectors under the seat before trying to unbolt and yank them out.

dont need to disconnect battery. Its a myth. Just dont turn on ignition while its unplugged or the light will come on :)

Tell that to the bloke who I used to work with who got his head put through a windscreen by the passenger airbag while working on a dash with the battery still connected...

They can (rarely) go off after the batteries been disconnected, don't take the risk for the sake of undoing one bolt!
