TDC Sensor? and where can i find it.

Hi, im rather at my whits end with my clio, it seems like its one thing after another ive had the head gasket go and various other bits and pieces.

Now when i bought it around a year ago (when it was warm), it had trouble starting every now and then, so now its warm again im getting the same problem however MUCH WORSE.

Today on 4 occations its decided to not start, taking around 6 goes with the key before it will start. So im waiting at the traffic lights on a fairly busy road when the old cocker dies, AND WOULDN'T START AGAIN, i pushed it to the side of the road and give a few minutes and started first time, so i pops out to see a mate and does it again.

Ive seen on youtube that this TDC Sensor is a common problem and has a habbit off not working in hot weather, YAY.

But where is it, ive got the haynes manual out and i have no problem in cleaning it but im not sure where it is.

I have a D7F 1.2 8v - MK2 PH1

thanks, Luke

Its at the very top of the gearbox over the flywheel.

On that engine it will be well hidden under the stat housing and air box though so you are going to have to do some work to get at it.

If you replace the crank sensor and it still faults rip the fuse box out and under there there's a white block connector that usually get water in it and all the pins turn green, if this has happened clean all the pins grease and try, we had same problem on our race clio and took a while to find but since then we have done 3-4 with the same fault throwing up all kinds of random codes sometimes as well....
