TDC / Speed Sensor

  Skoda Fabia vRS

right, could this be anything to do with idle problems

what exactly is this ?........what does it sense ?

ive read a few comments about the speedo cable and a sensor it has on it, is this the sensor ?....

is it seperate from the actual cable ?

Put simply the TDC sensor or crank angle sensor merely reads teeth on the flywheel so the ECU knows the positon (in deg) of the crank, and thus the position of any piston.

mostly used for ignition and injection timing/sequensing.

if this was broke, you car wouldnt work yet alone idle.

But its easy to check..

My 16v had the TDC sensor go. The car wouldnt start at all if it was this. Quite an expensive job on a 16v.

the speed sensor is at the dash end of your speedo cable.. its only got a live, earth and signal to ecu cable. doubt itd affect just idling
