technical question!

  Trophy No #264
Hi all,

bit of help needed here. I have a 55 plate clio 182, and the alternator is dead. Great. Also happens to be just out of warranty (typical)

All i need to know is will an alternator off a 172 fit my 182? (found one for sale second hand with warranty)

cheers,

Hmm, how would i tell if it is a cup or ff version?

Number of pulleys?
Code number?

It is to fit a 182 Trophy - does that affect it?

The reason it needs to be a FF and not a cup is the cup one is not as meaty. The normal 172 (FF) has all the same acessories as the 182 whereas the 172cup doesent.

Trophy is just a suspension upgrade, it's nothing to do with the electrics.

that's an online parts catalogue. it requires IE not firefox and 1 or 2 other bits but it's easy to get working. Have a look through and see if it can help you RE part numbers. If not put up a dialogys part number request on the forum and ask someone for the cup/FF part numbers so you can distinguish
