Is my temperature gauge in the correct position for fully warmed up?

Looks a little low to me but not sure ? :S

Well the 3 of us that have said ours is around this level have ph1s so that proves once and for all that ph1s are cooler

thanks

Only issue i could think of could be running on the cold map ie choke out? so would be a big drop in fuel consumption and possible engine damage?

Not sure if it would need to be lower than that tho?

Could this be a simple temp sensor fault?

Was that after constant driving in this cold weather?

yes.

It wasnt below freezing but it was a cold night. Picture was taken as soon as i drew to a hault after a 30 mile A road and motorway drive.

Been like that for a while not just recently

My tempurature gauge is the dot below the one above when driving around at 50/60mph. It goes up to just above the dot in the pic when in traffic for a while, but then goes down again to third dot.
Any ideas? I'm not sure what is the norm for my car (ph1 172)!
cheers

If it runs ok and starts ok i wouldnt worry about it. When was the coolant last changed?? It could be a faulty temp sensor on the thermostat housing. Check to see if the fan is not constantly running (note fan will come on at low speed with air con).

Andy, the phase ones do sit slightly lower well at least mine did, the newer models it seems they sit exactly halfway, I certainly wouldnt worry

Alternatively if you do think its low get someone with an rs-tuner /dat logger etc etc.. and see what the coolant temps are I'm sure its fine.

Don't know when the coolant was last changed, could that affect the tempurature?
I'll take a look later and see what the fan is doing! :)
