temperature gauge problem

Anyone come across a dodgy temp gauge in 182,

i was just drivin to work this morn then all of a sudden ithe gauge dropped the zero, then back to normal again, it did this about 4 times, then it was fine, went to renault at lunch, and they couldn't find a problem, so it goin back in on monday for the day to have the whole thing checked out :-(

cheers

Not an uncommon issue mate. Several of us here have suffered this same problem. The side effect that you may not yet have noticed is over fueling, which can (in my own experience) lead to complete flooding and a break down at the side of the road...stuttering at best.

It is caused by a wiring problem at or near the sensor. Very hard to trace apparently but Renault know all about it, despite not telling their dealers.

A tip, if you want to replicate the problem, warm it up good and cane it way past 6k rpm. It is always worse at higher RPM.

Ok cheers mate. suppose i should tell them about that when i take it back on monday!

Absolutely. It is a known fault. If they dont fix it just drive along a dual carriageway at 6500rpm for a few mintutes and have your AA card ready. They'll sit up and take notice when your car is delivered to them on a trailer.

Roy's right.

They couldnt fit me in for almost a week and actually recommended i call the AA out to it. So I did and the guy trailered it to the garage.

Low and behold it was ready the following morning. It was an air temp intake sensor.

They dont like having a brand new car sat outside the showroom on the back of an AA truck, especially at peak selling time.
