Temperature Gauge Query

When my 172 is up to temperature im sure it used to be exactly on the halfway mark and never move.

At the moment it sits on the notch below half and will only go up to half way when i accelerate hard.

Is this normal or do i have a lazy stat? Not sure if its just a clio quirk.

What sort of temperature should i be looking for on the live data with a 172?

Id like to know how to diagnose this properly with live data so I know whether the stat is at fault rather than the coolant temp sensor and vica versa?

Throwing parts at it guessing the fault is a waste of time and money.

When I had mine and it sat just under halfway it was the stat
