The new motor (vauxhall content)

Well decided to sell my zetec s as i just didnt like it. I have been searching the classifieds the last couple of months looking for a clean valver but that is one hell of a mission. After driving a few and all being ball bags i decide to widen my search and stumbled on this. The dragon is always nagging (more than usual) to get a vauxhall as her dad is a technician and has been since he left school 30 years ago.

Anyway The car, 1998 (R) Astra GSI, 51k, a folder like i have never seen of vauxhall receipts and services.

I drove the 320 mile round trip today to look at it and for a vauxhall i was shocked. It is the cleanest secondhand car i have ever seen. I pick it up on thursday, cant wait.

Im seriously thinking about entering in concours at a vauxhall show!!!!!!

I love Astra GSI's and used to love my 1.4s lol. How does it handle? my mk3 astra handled like a boat, a very top heavy boat..

Had a mk3 as my 1st car, always liked that shape astra. Looks very clean indeed though I think you need to source some standard wheels as they look like the aftermarket irmscher wheels.

THanks for the comments, i wasnt expecting that for an astra lol.

As said it is like it has just come out of the showroom. The old boy used to keep it in a temperature controlled garage.

It handles really well, he has a vauxhall receipt for a compete strut tower and anti roll bar rebuild. He has honestly spared no expense.

It is staying completely standard.

There was nothing wrong with the zetec s, i had one years ago and it just didnt give me the same feeling. It might sound stupid but i know what i mean.

Is it a standard bonnet aswell? I'm sure the GSI had a couple of scoops at the sides?

THe earlier models had the scoops. Aparently when cars are getting to the end of the production line vauxhall stop making specialist bits and try to scrimp a bit by putting leftovers on. This is whats happened with this one. Not nice to know when you are paying top money for the so called top of the line!
