The new motor

  Evo 8 MR
I wasted no time in giving the new cup a wash and dry and then off to a location for pics.

I absolutely love the car to bits, everything about it is awesome. It can skip past everyone else on the road so easily! I'm not sure if it's the mileage but the build quality just seems ten times more refined than the dynamique.

On hard acceleration theres a knocking noise sometimes, I guess it's the exhaust manifold, is this normal? (and no I haven't been doing wheelspins, not intentionally anyway) The tyres it's fitted with are Uniroyals are these any good? I don't think they are tbh as it seems a little unstable going round bends at speed, think the first thing is to get some contisports wrapped around the Turinis. :D

Anyway, pics:

I know, someones left a deposit on the dynamique and intend to purchase on Monday afternoon so I'll get the bits and bobs sorted then including getting it booked in for a full service.

Few more:

I was wandering how long someone would take to post that up.

Looks a nice motor mate, whats plans ?

Plans for now are to get a decent set of coilovers and an exhaust and decat, probably stealth tbh. Much more planned but that's just for now including splitter and tyres. Oh some sort of audio upgrade too, none of this sub in the boot with 6x9's in the shelf business though, gotta keep the weight down. :rasp:

Looks decent, shame the factory standard splitter is missing :)

I know, don't worry I knocked him down for it, would be silly to walk away just for that reason though.

Nice clean example mate!!

Don't go for cheapy coilovers, they really do ruin what the Cups all about. Been there done it. The knocking is usually the o/s engine mount. If you slacken on the x4 17mm and pull the engine (need a mate) as forward as poss, then adjust the mount to suit. Usually cures it.

Nice one Steve!

Knocking noise? The 'dogbone' engine/gearbox mount flexing perhaps?

Uniroyals Rainsports i ran these for a year.
Great tyres imho...

Cheers for the advice Gaz I might just get the uprated K-Tec mounts if that's the case.

Looks smart mate but it def needs a little lowering. I'd only bother with coils if you intend on track work tbh. If not then some sportlines would do I'd say

Plans are to throw the back seats out so I need to be able to adjust to suit. Don't want a harsh ride so won't be buying cheap.

Looks a nice example mate. I bet it feels quick compaired to the 1.4.

Wipes the floor with it tbh, the F4R is a totally different ball game altogether.

Lovely looking car you have there Steve ;)

As said in the thread, the knocking noise will probably be engine mount related, common problem and normally is rectified by fitting fresh mounts. Also there's a guide on here somewhere for moving the upper engine mount abit.

The Eibachs sort that dodgy ride height out as well lol. Where the front sits higher than the back.

aye that pissed me off! lol. Back goes up a tad on them and front lowers quite a bit giving a nice nose down stance!

Thanks for the comments I'm after coilovers though so would rather not bother with the Eibachs.

I've done 80 miles in two days mostly hoofing it about and it's showing a healthy 31 mpg. :rasp:

Put £40 of V-Power in and it's on just below half a tank.

Nice buy, standard cups still look great.

Those tyres are Uniroyal Rainsport 2's btw which get good reviews, I've found them to be great in the wet, but a tyre that works well on one car might not work so great on another.

That's what the seller said actually he said they were good in the wet, they don't feel that great in the dry though or it could just be because I'm used to driving a lowered clio? Think I'll get the coils before I make a final decision to keep them or not.

looks awesome pal Ill keep an eye out for this
Im going to try go for an RS in may :)

Nice one Paul, thanks.

Its a good idea to keep the tyres until you get the coilies anyway incase they arnt set up 100% right and you wreck a set of tyres.

Looks a really nice example though mate. Really like it.

You wern't in Lancaster in it the other day where you? Sunday night. I saw one just like yours on a 52 plate in The Plow Inn carpark just off the A6 at about 7pm.

Very nice looking, maybe a bit on the high side but other than that its perfect ;), and I'll add in another comment about the rainsports, I found them to be a pretty decent tyre, like its been said they werent the best in the dry but good in the wet. all round pretty decent I thought :)

Nah that wasn't me although I bought it from a guy who lives right near Lancaster.

FK Konigsports getting ordered sometime this week.

It's standard and I've only had it since Friday, give me chance!

I've had it looked at today and I can report the cambelt HAS been done, including the drive belt, looks like the seller wasn't lying. I've got it booked in for a full service a week tomorrow.
