I went camping in Rhosneigr (On Anglesey) with a few of my mates from back in high school, managed to get a few photos. Was a good laugh. :)

Amazing pictures Ian, loving the processing, what you use? Photoshop or Lightroom?

Thanks everyone. :)

Excellent pics, love the one from last.

Is the bloke in the third dead now?

Yes he i... no he isn't lol. If I have some free time later I'll post up a few outtakes (mainly me failing hard); he's good at all that though.

Cheers Ben. I just used Lightroom; tended to use a graduated filter and then lighten up the skin with the adjustment brush or something like that. First time I've tried it, but seems to have worked alright.

Edit: except I've just noticed I've messed up a bit in one of them lol, will have to replace it.

Thanks Justin and Dan. :approve:

Nice Pics! What camera did you use?

Canon 450d and I think most of these were with the kit lens, possibly one or two nifty fifty shots too, not sure without looking.

Yeah can only agree with the comments above. Nice photos with good composition. Were you using a circular polariser or what that effect added in post processing - which by the way looks great.

Would be interested to know the extent of the processing performed - in Lightroom judging by the exif data.

Doh too slow - questions answered whilst replying to the thread! :)

Lol :)

I only have a CPL for the nifty, so there may be a few where it was used, I'll check in a bit.

To answer a bit more thoroughly,

- add a gradient filter from the top (~ -1.0 exposure),
- make any adjusmtents to specific areas (mostly just skin I think) with the adjustment brush (up the exposure ever so slightly, in on or two cases maybe the clarity)

Then just tinker with vibrance, saturation, clarity, black level and exposure until the histogram looks about right. Really small adjumstents most of the time - the main effect comes from the grad.

If I had chance I would have bought some ND filters and Grad filters to to save on PP, but I didn't get chance before I went. Was hoping to get a landcape shot for my parents' 25th anniversary but the sky wasn't playing at sunset. :dapprove:

Good stuff, they came out great.

How did you use the grad filter one #1 without darkening the people?

Cheers Gaz and Steven. :)

The sky had come out really well in camera, so it was quite a light filter I applied. The only change I made to the people was to lighten the faces on a few of them with the adjusmtment brush set to about +0.3 exposure, if that makes sense?

Most photos were taken under a bright sun so without the adjustments they didn't look right to me. I'm not sure it's something I would apply to everything, although it does seem to have gone down well lol.

Thanks for all the comments, much appreciated! I've just ordered an A2 print of one of the photos as part of my parents' 25th anniversary present.. kinda nervous!

Had to re-upload the one that is now missing from the first page, was a few things I wasn't happy with.

And two new b+w's to make this post worthwhile. :)

Hawk from RAF Valley (literally next to the campsite).
Struggled to reach with the 70-200mm but at least it's sharpish.

Sand dune at Rhosneigr beach.
Can't wait to see my mate's photos, had an old film camera, a Pentax I think.

Link to the set here. Thanks again for all the comments, it's good to know that I'm heading in the right direction (If only there was somewhere local like Anglesey to take photos every week!). Time to sort out my project 52 I guess.
