Primarily due to its extraordinary length of over 22 kilometres, and the lack of space due to its situation on the sides of the mountains, the Ring was unable to meet the ever-increasing safety requirements, and was also unsuitable for the burgeoning television market. Niki Lauda, the reigning world champion and only person ever to lap the full 22835 m Nordschleife in under 7 minutes (6:58.6, 1975), (wickipedia)

What a time for 1975.What do people think a full blown F1 car would di it in now.Any better or same

They put an f1 car round and it did it in something like 5 mins**secs dont know exctly but the f1 struggles to get round due to the fact thats its so low. They had to raise it up by approx 10cm which ruined the down force so the car didnt have anywhere near as good cornering speeds and was apparently restricted to 155mph. It was nick heidfeld that did it. its on you tube! :)
