This weekend!

Right Ive decided to do the following this weekend and I am needing as much help as possible please!

My heaters havnt been getting hot ever since I bought the car, its always gone through a lot of water, however engine never overheats!

So last weekend I spotted a water leak over the right side of my engine near the water pump!

So this weekedn I am going to change the water pump, cambelt, possibly tensioners (but dont know if I need to)???

And I am going to give it a service!

So where are the cheapist parts from, gsfcarparts?halfords?renault?

what do I need to buy and whats best to buy?

And whats the best way for it to be done, i.e change cambelt, water pump first then give it a service and flush the system or what?

Cheers for any advice,

Danny

First you will need to get to work on the cam belt - new one is about 40 quid from motorist discount which seemed really good - remove the drivers side headlight and preferably the bonnet too, so that you have access to the cam belt pully. You will need to slacked this to relieve the tension on the belt so that it can be removed - you are also going to need to remove the drives front wheel and arch liners. Beleive me - it isnt that easy to rplace the cam belt coz you need all the timing marks to be correct etc (you probably already know that thoguh!) Once thats changed you will need to change the water pump - but i havent done one of these so im no expert - then flush the system etc. This isnt a one day jb by the way - you would be very lucky to get it done in a weekend - Have you got a haynes manual? ITs quite technical - i managed it but not without a few cuts and scrpaes and a few weekends under my belt (mind you - i did have to replace the whole bloody head!!!)

hahaha, sounds like fun to me mate!

Yer Ive got a haynes mate and I know about timing marks, but my mate did it last weekend and he said that he put a drill bit in and it kept the timing correct because the pullies cannot move!

So was your car off the road for that long?

Yup, four weeks in total - the haynes manual got me through that traumatic time in my life though! If you follow the instructions and have someone to help it really is quite straight forward but can take a while - you are going to need a torx set for definate and a good set of spanners, you will need to use a 10mm socket too - a lot. Is yours a valva or willy?

Its exceptional!

Just ordered all my parts, came to 95, should be here by tommoz! So going to spend sat and sun doin the car!!!

Oh I didnt order the cam belt tensioners, do I need to? My car has only done 55k and is 10 years old!
