Tightening Auxilary belt to stop squeaking.

Has it been change before, with the full kit?

Could be the tensioner, or could be another pully that will eventually go.

Belt or belts were done in 2009 got the receipt. Is there no quick fix. Not forking out any hard money. Just want to stop the squeaking surley I can just tighten something? Cars getting punted anyway had enough of renault, utter shite to be honest.

If you want a quick fix, soak it in WD40.

Cheers mate. Just went out for a look the now with a torch. Doesnt seem to be as loud as normal even though it is wet. It used to only do this on start up on cold damp mornings.

Was about to start writing an add for gumtree after my mini rant above. But after going out to the car and starting it up.... I cant part with her lol.

Probs needs a good f**king thrashing. All it does it doddles round 30 zones. Need to take it out in the countryside and open it up one nice dry night:S.

Then a good dose of WD40!

You need to take it to a decent garage, tell them to change the aux kit, while doing it they should check over the rest of the pulleys to see if anything else is causing the noise and replace anything that is.

It'll cost you now, but will save you in the long run, speaking from experience!

Chances are the tensioner is seized up and with a worn belt is prpb why it's squeeking so will need changing anyway. You can try removing it all and bathing it in WD40 but you have done the hard part by removing it so why refit a worn/old part that the manual clearly tells you to bin/replace? Many have been warned of the dangers of aux. belt run failure; some have ignored it and got away with it where others haven't and bent valves. For the sake of £140 I'd change it but that's me and my 10p worth.

The kits are at a cut price from Renault too and dont think it's permanent, the last 3 I bought have been about £70 for the kit. As Mick says change the bloody thing, it isn't worth risking it. Too many people own these cars and dont maintain them properly. Mind you shouldn't complain as I then pick them up for peanuts with loads of issues

The tensioner is spring loaded to make it auto adjusting, there is nothing you can manually adjust on it.
You could try a spray with wd40 as suggested, or you can either take it off and attempt to free it off and refit it, or you can take it off and replace it.

It used to only do it On startup. It started doing it all the time. Now it does it on start up but not so much when it's been running. It is a lot more quiet now than it was. It really seems to be damp and cold related.
