Time for a change?

Hi guys

Well Iv had the ph2 172 Monaco now for 4 1/2 years and 110k smile filled miles. Sad to say Im getting itchy feet and fancying a bit of a change now, I'm just not certain of what to buy. Favourite so far is the Mini Cooper 'S' but could be tempted with a 182 Trophy. Budget of around 5k .

Just thought I would pop on here and hear peoples thoughts or if they had any other suggestions?

Ive had 2 Trophy's and are great cars but seen as you've had your 172 for 4 1/2 years you will find it too similar I reckon.

I've just changed my Trophy for a Focus ST and the boost and noise is something else.

Yeah your probably right in regards to the trophy. Is the ST not a little out of my budget? Like u say the noise you get from your turbo in the ST is awesome as is the supercharger whine from the Cooper 'S'?

As the 1*2's are such fun little cars it makes it twice as difficult to change as I tend to find I do nothing but compare mine with whatever I'm testing . Lol.

You are right-the 1*2's are absolutely brilliant fun and for the money the performance is brilliant.

I'd imagine you'd find an early 05,55 ST in your budget but you may not need anything as big as that so the cooper S would probably fit.

I think the standard 'S' are slower than the 172's though, could you get a works for your money?

Maybe try something a bit bigger with boost. Leon Cupra, Focus RS Mk1/ ST Mk2, Megane 225/R26.

The mini is pretty good tbf but budget in performance mods like cat cams, smaller pulley, better intercooler, exhaust etc. They go very well then!

MCS was my idea for a next car too... but atm I can't stop looking at facelift CTR's in red. Just hope they come down a bit more for when I'm ready to buy!
