Time to upgrade speakers

Right chaps, after some ideas and spec of some speakers for my mark 1.

Now the vent speakers need to be 10cm. I wouldnt mind paying £30-£40 for them. Possibilty of being amped/crossovers.
Right now i have Pioneer 10cms, good quality, but the cone vibrates off the vent.
Needs to be flush fitting however due to this crappy vent.

Door speakers need to be maybe 13cm. I hope. Maybe they are 5 1/4 inches.
Crossovers/amped is again a possibility.
Cost - £30-£60.
Currently dont have these installed - Cutting door cards for speakers(using standard mark 1 door cutout)

Rear speakers need to be 10cm again, £30-40 for them with crossover/amped possibility.
Have some SPLX 10cm in right now, have done the job but are now crummy.

I already have a sub box in the boot (4 8" powered by Alpine V12 with a capacitor to regulate voltage. Im looking to really improve my sound in the car and i have two other amps i can use.
Another Alpine V12 and a SPLX amp.

So go crazy people, this is going to be my next project.

Thanks.

Get a set of components up front first and amp them
Run the rear speakers off the HU

Are you upgrading your sub & amps too?

No the Amp is still one of the better ones on the market. Dont have model to hand, but it is still retailing online and on the street at £170 each.
Subs will not be upgraded as i just built the box for it.

What components do you recommend for the front? Is it worth in investing in Crossovers?

Ah yes, I remember those amps now - which ones have you got? (model/specs)

Crossovers will come with a set of component speakers - it's how they work.

I have Focal 165 K2p (17cm) components in the front of my car and I have never had a complaint about them. come to think of it neither has any of my mates who purchased them after hearing mine :approve:

Before that I had 13cm Focal components which were hidden behind the renault grills. Was a massive improvement from standard but any bass at all rattled the valuable french panels

If you are worried about the panels rattling in front of your speaker - look into having a subtle pod made from mdf & fibreglass. It shouldn't cost much from a decent car audio dealer.

"A lot about sound quality is in the build itself - not just the fancy numbers & colours on the boxes" - best advice on car audio I've ever paid attention to

Seems ok to me.

I have a pish SPLX - SPLA500 no idea on spec, dont really mind about it.

Right - So i know my audio pretty well, in terms of sound etc etc.

I would love RF stuff, but its out of my league right now.

Tigger - I can make my own pods if need be, but im going to just put them in the panel right now. After all, im going for the i have standard interior and trim look(which i refuse to budge on).

Hense why no 6x9s, etc etc. All hidden, that is important to me.

So you recommend Focals, do they come in 13cm still? Maybe even 10cm?

What is it best going for, crossovers? Or just standard coaxials?

Yeah focal do 13cm speakers - I had them as my first set.

Go for components mate - just keep a set of coaxils in the rear & run them off the head unit
