Timing Belt and Auxilary Belt Problems...

  Clio 182 Arctic Blue
Got quoted £370 to get the timing belt and auxilary belt changed from a garage close to mine. They had from 8-5:30 to do the job and ended up phoning saying the water pump would need doing too as it was leaking etc. The car stayed there over night for me to get a phone call at 1 today saying that the metal casing holding the loaded spring for the aux belt has gone and they have needed to order a new one in.....which cost £190 from renault.

So now they are saying it will be closer to £580 which is more than i have to spare right now, but they have said i can drop the money in this week when i get paid. A totally new garage to me as i heard they were very good and liked to keep prices low haha.

Is this something that usually tends to go and is this price sky high or just the usual? I just keep having this feeling like the timing will be out or something and i'll end up with more things needing fixed haha :dapprove:

Mate, youre going to get a lot of people here saying you should take it to a specialist.

Mine booked in for the all the above and a dephaser for £430. No worries re timing.
