jondering......does your mk1 172 have an audible alarm fitted standard to it or is it just the pointless flashy flashy lights one ?

depends if the alarm is a sigma after sales fit or cobra factory fit.

yep cobra dont beep unless there is a problem or when disarming to tell you it was triggered whilst you left it.

any decent dual proximity alarms that will work with the cobra alarm and immobilers on the 172?

min eis a cobra one i think, at least when i bought the car i got a leaflet with cobra written all over it !

it does have a sticker on the window saying thatcham cat 1 alarm fitted and i was talking to the guy who owns autosounds and he says if it was a cat 1 alarm it should beep !!!
