TOAD alarm going off randomly?

  Valver
Something has never been quite right about my alarm, sometimes it beeps more times than it does other times when locking, or it doesn't beep at all! But now it has started going off randomly, I leave it on the drive, all windows and boot shut, arm it, and it will just go off randomly! No cats or anything just set itself off??

after its been going off and u disarm it check how many times it flash`s that will tell u which sensor was tripped , could be a loose conection on boot bonnet etc, or a faulty senser .

more likely loose wire

Yeah this alarm is beginning to annoy me, I would bet its something to do with the alarm why my batteries always die...

Oh I haven't got a manual for it and I can't seem to find a website for TOAD, so anyone got a flash-sensor table thing?

Mines a Toad A850T 2

2 flashes = optional sensor
3 flashes = doors (-)
4 flashes = boot/bonnet
5 flashes = doors (+)
6 flashes = ultrasonic sensor
7 flashes = ignition

MrBillyUK !

your alternator might be nackared mate. the alarm on my old car was doing similar random stuff. it was because it wasn't getting sufficient power from the battery due to a buggered alternator...

get a volt meter thing

connect it to batt with engine off see what it reads,
then start engine and see what it reads
then with engine still running turn on as many things u can, e.g fans lights wipers stereo , and see what it reads.

i think in therory it should read around 12 all time, but if yer alternators really nackard itll get less n less , to some points car will stall with it all switched on.

if it reads alot under 12v when nothings on then possibly yer batt

If your batteries reading 12v when its running its knackered mate !
You should be looking for a reading of over 14v , typically 14.10v or above when the engines running with nothing else turned on i.e . lights , heater ,cd player etc .....

To check your battery if the car hasn't been running in the past couple of hours , if it has turn on your lights for 30 seconds then turn em off again. Leave for a couple of minutes then check the voltage reading .

12.7v = good condition
12.6v = normal condition
12.5v = poor condition

Anything less than 12.4v and your batteries discharging .

In my opinion , the batteries that renault fit as standard aren't that good . Mines only a 420amp . Better to go for a heavy duty battery of about 620amps.

I'm not surprised you engine was stalling with only 6 - 8v , your battery must have been well fcuked !

erm well the first alternator fried the battery by putting the 18v in steam coming out of it, then second alternator didnt charge it enough .
