Easily best cheapest tomtom by a long shot, pc world was selling em before christmas for £220 as i was price matching them!has new chipset and bluetooth so u can download traffic through your phone!buy it!
Ryan

same features as the 300 in a smaller, more stylish case.

We (pc world) now sell them for £259 with a free case (worth £50)

^^^^^^^^^^^£330 for the 500 would also be a very good investment as this has got handsfree bluetooth, comes with speed camera locations too!!me (halfords) are probly selling them for alot more as the saying goes halfrauds!!but we price match!!

Id still go with the one because of the better processer enabling it to work in any car!!no matter what screen you got!!

TomTom One and 300 have 200Mhz processors, and neither use Assisted GPS

500 and 700 have 400Mhz processors and use Assisted GPS.

I got the 500... value for money it shines through :)

yep they are the dogs b****cks :D used the free trial of TT traffic over xmas and was brilliant, took me round a 15 mile accident on the M6...absolutely no probs with the signal either...think they are all around 249-259 now but were 220 just before xmas

buy one you wont regret it :approve:

Thing is, sat nav is one of the things I really want. I know if I buy sat nav I won't use it all the time due to covering 7miles a day to and from work. But I know it will come in very useful when your lost somewhere etc...

Fubar - would you still go for the 500 over the One in my position? also is the 500 going to be replaced soon?

cheers

The 500 isnt due to be replaced in the near future as far as i know. i spent a while deciding... and the 500 won for me.

Things you get with the 500 that you dont get with the One:

400Mhz processor
Assisted GPS
Hands Free Bluetooth (can trasfer phonebook to Go, very useful!)
Major Roads of Europe
Mains AC charger
Ability to change the colour of the front panel (VERY important! ;))

/Dan.

i only drive 4 miles a day to and from work.

probably use my TomTom once a month, but during these times its spot on.

I also bought the external antenna for mine, routed it to the back of the parcel shelf.

ive also hard wired mine into the cars electrics now... pester me enough and i'll add a guide to my website :)

  Clio 197
I have a TomTom One.

FAB piece of kit.

Identical in features to the TomTomGo300 - only Slimmer .... and ....

....much better reception thanks to a new chipset!!!

I was driving along the M5/M42 today... with 11 satellites locked-on : this is with a heat-reflective screen, and NO external antenna.

yeah still up, going to bed in a min thou :sleepy:

With money being a bit tight over christmas and it's my b'day this month so might have a nice word with mommy and daddy about a tomtom ;) haha

they will probably say no use a f**king A-Z like we do!! ha ha

tell them it also gives you someone to talk to on long journeys, stops you from tiring...

or is that just me?

nope mate thats norm...i got a tomtom one for my clio last week...lovely bit of kit...love the way they redirect the route u know just incase u dont feel like going the way it tells u to;)

one question was gonna ask u guys is how to get the speed camera software on the thing....also i got the free traffic alert thing (one month trial) and was not sure if have to install it or register for it or wot...

thanks

A colleague has one and he brings it into the patrol car. Its friggin excellent. There seem to be plenty of people that think cop cars have Satnav...well Essex DONT.

Made a change from constantly map reading.

Tom Tom One has 380 MHz CPU.

Price has gone up since Christmas, but if you buy from P. C. World you get a free case.

speed camera database and instructions can be found here
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php

you have to active the traffic trial (its really good),pretty straight forward as long as you have a bluetooth phone..tells you what to do in the black bootlet that came with it
