Tool Box in a Washing Machine

My clio has just started sounding like a tool box in a washing machine on tickover, anyone know why this is? any ideas?

my timing belt tensioner (bearing) went on my old 172, get it checked straight away. could be a massive problem if it lets go, my car sounded exactly like you describe

Seems to happen after I've been driving at low speed (ie around town) in 1st and second gear.

I think Iain's concerned that your timing belt went? and you could have bent some valves etc by keeping it running.

Is it maybe just a coil pack failure and so it's not firing on all 4 cylinders?

Oh yeah read it a little wrong. No it's still running fine, definately not timing belt broken. Timing belt should have some shelf life yet as the car has only done 39k.

It is also running on all 4 Cylinders.
