top 25 a load of b*lls

  80MPG BEEZA
somethings bin getting to me today why do meguiars endorse the top 25 french uk rides when clearly knowone thinks that their the top 25?

one thing annoyed me most is when i heard from someone that when the judge's went round the cars they took a look at mine and said his barely done anything never even bothered to read the spec sheet

well we cant all build cars and bring them on trailors? if thats what makes a french car in the top 25 then f*ck them!

obviously they prefere the ott bags of s**t. though yours looked mint mate

  1 Series Coupe
I thought your car was the best one there...

I thought meguiars are supposed to be a cleaning products company - so the idea of a top 25 would be to display to top 25 cleanest cars; that are cleaned with meguiars products... NOT highly modified show cars...

  80MPG BEEZA
i know people liked mine but personally they stated to me the comp was a mix of performance, concours, and modified cars their was some other really good cars that didnt even get a peep in like the black 106 with a mint engine bay in excellent stature, so why state the comp is looking for a mix when plainly their just bone idol.

im sure the comp is contracted by meguairs to auto media to do and they will get paid for this im sure megs wouldnt be happy knowing they cant even be bothered to get to know what people have actually done and actually look at the cars, i mean i bet this didnt care to notice the under my arches and the entire bottom of my car had been cleaned completely

  80MPG BEEZA
i mean the prizes were sh*t im just miffed like others is that what the french car show is about? i may just host my own top 25 and give prizes out and put some real cars on show

  Audi TT 225
I thought almost all the top 25 were a pile of chav tastic, carpark cruizers max powered pile of horse sh!t tbh..
When the guy from one of the mags was talking to russ about his car he was saying how fed up everyone was with the crazy car scene full of ice and screens and crap and they weren't featuring anything like that anymore lol.

  80MPG BEEZA
well some of them were really badly done the ones that were kitted and used where in a right state boot build that were built very poorly fair does if its self done, but i mean the massive pug behind me was clean as a badgers nadger and knowone gave it a glance

  80MPG BEEZA
like £100 worth of cleaning gear - £500 worth of boss wheels, general crap really its more of them placing cars tagged as the no1 french megs car when its plainly crap i mean look at the white pug thats on the front of french car mag that was a beast id sell my soul for a quick go

  80MPG BEEZA
dont know they only did top 3 personallly dont care hence why i only wiped the car down and didnt really bother having doors and bonnet open as i didnt feel the need to my car makes me happy the way it was :)

cant see why i couldnt run my own 25 hmm maybe with a better name behind me not some halfrauds stuff

We all knew it was rubbish being told to stay till 5 when the majority of folk would have left long before that!

Some of the cars there were IMO Nedtastic!

  80MPG BEEZA
nedtastic? meaning in the english, and yes the majoirty of the folk isnt that what megs want as customers

  80MPG BEEZA
oh yes seems like the general view, maybe i should start a petition to show exactly how many people now dispise these lumps of fibreglass

  850 T5. mmmm Turbo!
i agree, i think the cars on that stand are out of date.

for me the modded car scene has headed towards sleepers and subtle mods.
some were abit poo too.

i felt sorry for you m8 tbh. im guessing your the guy with the tunnels, having to stand there next to that shitty renault 5 with its stereo booming out shite!

your car was one of the better ones. if im honest i didnt like the way your bumper meets your wings. other than that i think your car is mint.

  80MPG BEEZA
yea few people dont as its got black silicone down but meh i just live with it as its one of the few things people can pick on so i lets them ;)

but i mean isnt it why max power is changing? they changed the editor and its now heading away from stuff like the 5 it makes no sense to tune a car to 200bhp then fill it with ice, like the clio running 300bhp and had like 18-19" wheels on with massive spacers, why?

  80MPG BEEZA
and yea they guy with the 5 was the worst his minging wife actually went up and started prodding my arches lol just wait till you see the car next year

  lift number 1 @ btm
probably they are looking for the most spectacular cars for advertising, so even though you have put the same (or more) effort into yours, it wont look so dramatic in an advert. they just never bothered to explain what they want.

here i've e-mailed them in hope that we can sort something out as its FCS french car show we are french car owners isnt it supposed to be our event?

Dear Auto Media,

I recently took part in the meguiars top 25 at FCS as hosted by you. I'm writing to you to tell you that im dissapointed. Upon entering into the competition i was told that it was a mix of performance, concours and modified cars. Upon arriving at the show i could personally see that really wasnt the case. I'm sadened in the fact that the vast majority of people didnt like the cars on the stand they did get attention but was it all good?

The main reason i forced myself to write is i believed i entered to show people that anyone can have a nice looking smart car capable of its task i set it, Meguiars is always striving to improve their image coming out with such products as gold class range, and im sure their ever moving their focus to suit what people want and being the vast number of people their being car enthusiasts isnt that their customer?

Now the thing that set it off for me after the poor selection of cars being cars crashed in halfrauds would be when someone i was with pointed out from the podium that their was judges going around, we watched in amazement at how quickly and swiftly they moved by certain cars, i later then spoke to another friend who was beside my car at the time they were judging it my friend said the following

"the both quickly strolled round one side took a look at the arch on the car then one stated "nothings been done to this really" before they moved onto the next"

now how can judges judge a car if they dont even read the spec sheet thats been placed on the car to inform everyone of the work done as im quite sure my list was more then just a paragraph, hmm but how can you really judge a car by a quick glance? didnt you say their was a mix of concours cars in the competition?

now if thats the case they would have noted that all my wheel arches, brakes suspension and infact the whole underside of my car had been cleaned by hand by me taking over 70 hours the previous week i'm afraid not.

I could go on about this for hours, in the end i'm sure you have been contracted by meguairs to run this with their name to put to shame their was alot mistakes made and i mean alot, i can say one thing and thats a women named pippa seemed to be doing her job greeting me upon arrival and thanking me for coming and thank me again later obviously someone has a clue.

If you could take time to trail through forums in particular www.cliosport.net you will find a generous number of people werent happy with what was on display and several threads relating to the day at FCS and i hope to recieve some feedback on your behalf

many thanks

I have received your email and read the entire thread. Auto-Media takes these events very seriously and I note your comments.

The selection of cars was made by myself and Jason who was also at the show. Your car stood out to us amongst all the entries as a suberb example of concours combined with subtle modifications and we were pleased to see that the car was as good in reality as in the pictures.

I know how much work went into the car as I typed each of the 25 specs personally.

It is always difficult when selecting the cars to get a good mix thats suits all tastes and often standard cars do not apply as they feel they will get overlooked. Also, two of the finalists who were concours/subtle based had to pull out at the last minute which changed the balance.

I wish to point out that the judges were invited guests and do not and have never worked for Auto-Media. I have taken on board your comments and I can only apologise, the judges were advised that there were concours and less visibly modified entries to be judged on their own merit. It is for this reason that each car has its own spec sheet. The judges choice is final and we are not involved in those decisions. Meguiars were involved in the choice of the Best Presented award.

The work Auto-Media carries out on behalf of advertisers is separate, although you may be suprised to hear that a car such as your clio is much more likely to be chosen than a highly modified show car for this tyoe of work.

I am not going to get into discussions about other cars or their owners.

Again, I can only apologise for you feeling so disappointed, it was certainly not our intention for any finalist to come away from the show feeling this way.

Regards, Pippa

thank you for your reply, i now understand how it kinda got this way i think maybe more enthusiatic judges may be required maybe a different approach like ask for judges? or seek people that spend alot of time in the "real world"

  80MPG BEEZA
oh yh that rally was nice i cant reli remember to be honest

i can side with auto media if the judges are just selected but maybe given a better briefing, as i said in my mail their were certain cars that were not given a glance which i feel needed a good looking at which is what upset me as i know how much hard work some of these guys put it where others just go get ticky to get a company to chav their ride

  80MPG BEEZA
any 1 got a pic of batmans

plenty up on forum matey plus i dont really want to invlove mine as far as im concerned im happy with my own effort and how it looked amongst the others, its the quality of judging and certain other enthusiats that got looked over, noticed how some of the 25 were just eager to leave?

The judges have worked in both restoration and modifying for many years. I will certainly take these comments on board when looking at the judges in future.

  clio 172
yh i understand and agree the 1 owner from each car club should judge mayb or something like that

  80MPG BEEZA
i think maybe 3 best entries put forward from each car club or something depending on how many clubs their is and the entries they have, i mean their were some glorious reno 5's just down from the stand, anyways thank you for atleast getting back to me and understanding what i have to say its more then i wanted, and thank you for letting me blast my car through those underground tunnels on the way in

  80MPG BEEZA
Sounds like it was a crock of sh1t Mark and their reply was polite b*ll*cks IMO.

well what can i do really? just wait and see whats their next year? i maybe at a show this weekend thats judged by the police  their real cool about it aswell a concours jag with 20" rims won last year :)

bring on next year track time for me please

Most of the cars there would have looked more at home in an asda carpark cruise than a top 25 of a competition.
Im so sick of seeing fibreglass and ice its unreal... this sort of thing should be about the car and the car alone and not having half of toy-r-us in the boot...

thats what i ment to say lol great speach:drunk:

We have been doing shows for many years and people always want to leave as soon as the judging has been announced. Unfortunately it's down to the show directors when we can let people go due to the Health and Safety regs arranged with the venue.

  FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU
I found that when we were queing to get in me and my mates were laughing at some cars, and some of them seemed to appear in the top 25:S
