Torque settings for ARP rod bolt



3 stage process. All to 40 ftlbs IIRC.

Install and tighted to 40. Slacken fully, tighten to 40, slacken full then final tighten to 40.

Idealy you should be using a rod bolt stretch gauge though.

What diameter are they? I.e on std rods?

If so 40lb.ft

Stretch is 0.15mm i think, can double check tommorow if your still stuck.

Actuality I have tried 40lb.ft on std rods, but it seems too tight and cause crankshaft hard to turn. So, I followed the Renault technical note (20Nm + 62 degree) for ARP rod bolt. Will it cause bottom end damange?

How about the torque settings for forged rods? any different with std rods?

Typically H section rods use a larger diameter bolt, therefore different torque is required to achieve the clamping force.

If you have tried 40lb.ft and it locks up the crank, you need to look at your bearing clearances. Have you measured them? If so what were they?
