Totally dead 3rd iMac - do I repair or replace?

  Clio 182
3rd iMac is now totally totally dead, will not power on at all now. No start up sound, no fan noise, no screen, just a solid white status light.

However, none of my stuff is backed up so reluctantly I probably have to suffer a repair - but would you rather lose everything and get a refund/replacement?

Totally fucked off with iMacs. I'm tempted to go and buy a cheap normal laptop instead...

:dapprove:

It's been suggested I try and reinstall the ram myself to see if that works but it doesn't sound that easy a job...

I'd lose everything for a replacement personally, but it sounds like you've been very, very unlucky, either that or iMacs are truely sh*t.

Well the person who suggested reinstalling the ram was right, took it out, clipped it back in and it's working again... for how long though...

Back it all up now Karen. How long before it happens again?

You havent had a lot of luck with macs have you. Id phone them, shout majorly, threaten them with Watchdog etc. Then get a different Mac if you really dont want to get another PC.

I don't know what I've done in life to deserve so much bad luck with everything :dapprove:

Apple Customer Services are dire...

You didn't sleep with me.

Don't go for a normal PC if you've been used to Macs, you'll tear your hair out.

We're used to their idiosyncrancies, a Mac user going back to "normal" PCs will get really pissed of. Stop looking at dodgy p**n sites, it won't keep f**king up then.;)

IMHO.

Ney chance. Have you had the pleasure of speaking to Sony regarding one of their Vaio laptops? I'm usually a calm person on the phone when trying to resolve a problem but these chimps nearly pushed me over the edge.

You've as much chance of converting the Taliban to Christianity than get helpful service from them. Total, total, tools.... :dead:

Why you different from the rest?

I use a normal pc at work, it's lovely lol. Ok the Mac is nice in it's own way, it looks lovely in the living room so I've been told, and I love the screen and how it works overall, i just have no faith in it whatsover. :dapprove:

Try Indian Tech Support from Apple, I bet it ties very closely... they can't even have a conversation with you, they just know stock phrases.
