Toyo t1-r for track use?

  172 cup
How has anyone else got on with these?

I ended up with a full set on friday as the yoko paradas I ordered didnt arrive in time and I needed new tyres for trackday at Llandow last friday.

They lasted no time+ grip didnt seem the best. the front passsenger side tyre is completely knackered after 1 day.

I know Llandow track is harsh on this wheel as it is mostly right handed bends, but expected a bit more from them. I tried different tyre pressures, but the front end just seemed to slide a lot.

Thinking of going to 15" wheels and toyo r888's or yoko A048's next time.

I found they were applaing at low pressures, but wack them up.. and I mean up and they perform.

I started off with about 32psi in front when cold, but after a few laps + heat in them they were up to about 35/36.

I kept dropping them a bit at a time til they were down to 26psi, but as you say they were worse, so went back upto about 34psi, but still seemed pretty poor.

tbh i've never been much if a toyo fan, but thought id give them a try as a lot of people seem to rate them highly.

Think I was running 38/40. Could have been 40/42

This was at teh Haynes Sprint track so I certainly needed them to grip! At the lower pressures I nearly met the barrier too many times!

i used t1's and they seemed good. tr'1s are meant to be better are they not. gonna go for r888 next time!

very good tyre for track, but you have to get the pressures right, we run around 30psi all round on them
