Track Rod Ends (mk1)

  Mk1 Clio F4R'd
Got the car MOT'd on thursday and only failed on drivers side balljoint/wishbone which is very impressive for a 11year old car :D

But once it was fixed, i noticed the steering wheel was "looking" left and i've lost nearly all feel in my steering.

Took it back to the garage and checked the new part and was fitted fine so went to National Tyres to get the wheels alligned (for free :D) and he said that they are miss aligned, but cant adjust them because the track rod ends are so eroded that if he moved them, they would just snap.

Got a quote for the work needed and it worked out as £90 for parts & labour. On my printed estimate, it doesnt show how much labour is costing, so is it worth finding parts cheaper and looking for a mechanic to fit them or just go to national tyres and get them to do it if there is hardly any difference.

Cheers for the help

about £10 per rod end, can be a right t**t to get off if really rusted on, blow torch will be required!

£10 :O!!

National Tyres want £45 for each side!

Cheers for the quick reply, going to shop around for the parts :D

The parts are cheap but if they are too tight to adjust then they are going to be a right arse to replace. It could take them 30-40 mins each side.

Found track rod ends for £15 and then also Tie rod ends for £35.

On my estimate, it says Tie/TrackRod End @ £45 each..

Not too sure on what i need...
