Anyone had an aftermarket tracker fitted to their 172 / 182 or whatever? If so does it have a significant effect on the insurance? i.e. will it pay for itself pretty quickly?

Im thinking of having one fitted to my 172 cup so I phoned my insurers to see if it made much difference. They told be my premium would go down about £30 a year which is roughly 5%. So unless I keep the car for over 20yrs it doesnt pay for itself.

Im still having it fitted just as extra protection.

thats a bit pants, are you going to get quotes from other companies? I think there should be better savings than that from companies that appreciate trackers.

If you go ahead Id be very interested to find out what sort of saving you do get.

Your right though, the discounts arent very good considering the cost of the tracker. In my case Ill get it for the security aspect not the saving on the premium.
