There were previous posts on this about people saying that the trip computer seems to start resetting itself in winter and could be due to a low battery.

Mine was doing this too everytime i started up it would reset, today put a new battery on and been in and out of the car all day and its not reset once! (*touch wood*)

My 03 172 is doing the same, though it seems to do it overnight. If I use the car several times in the one day, it's OK. Also, in the morning when it's cold it never starts on the first attempt. Always starts straight away on the second attempt. Anyone else had this?

Unfortunately as well as the trip comp my dash lights have been fading when I put the sidelights or Xenons on.

Renault electrics are so shite!

Mine had the reset problem too, I had no problems starting but the battery was almost totally dead when I checked it.

New battery solved it. I was surprised as nothing else showed a flattening battery, always started fine - seems the trip computer may be the first sign the battery's had it.

Get yours checked out, most garages and halfords etc will do it for nothing.

Mine is exactly the same except the starting, it always starts first itme, thats why it seems strange it is the battery! Will it just suddenly die when I come to start it up or will it show signs after the trip business? Cheers

You guys were spot on, my battery died today, with no warning apart from the trip thing recently, then today after not using the car for a week, dead!

Thanks to you lot, I knew exactly what it was, got a new high power battery, and after an hour of swearing at Renault for packing so much into the engine bay, it was done, started first time, just have to report back on the trip computer situation in a couple of weeks.

Thanks agin to you all, no AA required this time....

Yes, please do report back!! It'll be interesting to see whether it solves the problem... Mine also is showing no usual signs of a battery on the way out. One other thing I've noticed is A/C settings reset overnight..

Replaced it on Saturday, used it everyday since, no reseting or anything else. It used to reset itself most nights so looks like that is all it was!

Excellent, good luck with yours.
