Trolley Jack help

  Renault Laguna Coupe

Now Ive got a nice set of wheels Im going to use the old ones for trackdays etc, so I thought Id buy a trolley jack to make changing them over a bit easier.

Can anyone explain (pics would be great) where I should position the jack under the car? Bit worried about bending something

Use the sissior jack, Trolley jacks are better for bendind and cracking sub frames!

Trolley jacks probably the best bit of kit ever..

Not many places on the Mk1, so I used a bit of wood so it didnt do any damage to bits.. dunno about Mk2.

dont use the standard jack or you will bend something use a trolly jack with a block of foam and wood on it and jack it up in the usuall place id say

KEEP THE TROLLY JACK OFF THE JACKING POINTS

The flat top of the trolly jack will bend the jacking pints on the mk2 clio. Some tw*t in a reno garage did it to mine. I was advised if had had done the damage then there would be no come back as I didnt use the jack intended for the car.

My standard jacking points have already been bent by the scissor jack that comes with the car. Tyre centres and garages all use trolley jacks dont they?

Get it back to the garage then. The jack that I have got with the Cup (after some dispute with Reno - and the one that comes with new clios NOW!), has a small locating pin on the top of it, which locates into the hole on the jacking point on the car itself. Normal flat top jacks and trolly jacks will bend the points.

Do a search on bent jacking point and you will see the all of the people that have had the problem. Renault have fixed mine and others under waranty. (Repair job on mine is ok), and they gave me the correct jack for the car now.

Even Renault garages themselves use ramps which have the normal cups which go on each jacking point, and they b**ch about how the jacking points fold whilst on there..... so it aint to do with type of jack.

I was watching the mechanics at Donington today. They were all using the normal jacking point!
You too Mike, I was hanging around them watching as I havent a clue, I was hoping a trolly jack might have found its way into the boot of my car, no luck thou :( Guess Ill have to buy one.....

Trolley jacks are great, the OE supplied one is poo (though the whole puncture kit is well done imo). Get some axle stands as well.

i just use a block of wood with a trolley jack. Not bent anything yet!

And i feel far more safe using a trolley jack than the scissor one
