Trouble with petrol pumps?

I've never really given this much thought but I filled up recently and had my usual trouble getting the pumps to register. I very rarely get to a Shell garage but when I do I always have fun trying to get the fuel to start flowing, same thing happens at Tesco when I fill up with 97/99. However, BP (Ultimate) always seems to register and work straight away. Does this ever happen to anyone else? 172 Cup here, btw.

I thought I was just being dim but after reading about Evo's experience with filling up the Mustang at Shell I figure it must be a real problem of sorts...especially when someone wrote in and said that they had the same problem and the best thing to do was to use BP.

It can take me up to a minute some times, taking it out, putting it back in etc before it finally decides to start running.

same problem for any clio, cup or not, just be more gentle on the trigger to start it flowing. Flow rate has the effect you descibe.

i have a bit of a problem but not so bad...... just start off slow and then pump away

also sainsbury's in street seems to have bigger pipes as the frigging thing got stuck in the hole! lol

Glad its not just me then.

I was trying to write my post without it getting real smutty, it wasn't easy!

Boys, you just need to adjust the penetration and flow rate to the diamater of the pipe and the volume of fluid per second!!!!

I've never had any problems either! You lot must be a bit inexperienced

The one time I did have a problem was when the lock on the petrol cap was frozen solid and I couldn't get it off. Had to just drive away without buying any fuel in the end!

You are aware that the attendant inside has to press a button before fuel is granted?

cant say i have had any problems, apart from the first couple of weeks when i would always pull up to the wrong side as the cap had been on the other side of my old car

Really? Never knew that! Never thought of it as we have unmanned pumps around here during the night which you can fill up with using your credit/debit card.

yeah used to work in a petrol station for a bit and they get a beep everytime someone picks up the nozzle and they have to press a button to accept its ok. pointless but incase its someone they dont want to serve i guess lol.
