Turbo vs. Throttle Bodies

Regardless of cost, what would people prefer. A 2.0 Valver with Throttle Bodies or a Turbo?

Turbo !! as throttle bodies seems to be a fixed gain ! whereas turbos can be adjusted and upgraded !! Although both would bean awesome combo !

and theres also the added bonus of a pensioner scaring dump valve !!

Been thinking about this myself and I think throttle bodies would make it easier to get the power down and therefore be faster off the mark but you much more torque from a turbo. Personally I think Id go for Throttle Bodies.

And throttle bodies aint just a do-it-and-leave it type of mod, cos once you start tweeking cams and headwork etc etc and you can really see some gains - more that with a single body....

And remember Craig that you cant just keep tweeking in the boost on a turbo without other serious work takin place or it go big-badda-boom.

TB. Its close though I dislike the lag from turbos sometimes.

Loads of potential in the 172 (similar enigne) BenR reconed 320hp NA and turbo kits are 300hp arnt they. TB would be cheaper and less risky wouldnt they?

What about a 1.9dci tunned instead that would be more interesting.

bybutting 4 tbs on it lol the drive by wire attatches to the single tb

tbs are cheap really its just the other bits that aint

The TB setup cant be that cheap, else more people than Roamer would have done it.

like i said the tbs are cheap its the other bits to make it work that arnt a throttle body is about 150 each yoiu need 4then a manifold needs to be sourced then fuel injectors are changed a stand alone ecu bigger fue pump etc

The reason why no one else has it done is because it seems everyone is far too concerned about their "warranty"

also no one has done a 172 in the UK before and documented it

When youve got a Renault..................You need a warranty!!!

I personally would not be able to afford to make my car payments, pay my insurance, pay for two new tyres on the front every 2months and spend £400 on petrol per month if I said sod the warranty, im turboing it!!

Its nice to know the things that go wrong are covered by someone else for a while!!!

im not bothered about the warranty tbh from what i can work out the reno one covers fook all after the 1st year, its cash and insurance thats holding me back from tbs or a turbo at the moment

lol i been gettin towards throttle bodies for over a year now hehe

still not been able to afford the whole lot yet.......gettin there tho as after the btm end rebuild all il need is the t/b setup cams ecu n headwork lol

if id done them now it wudve been about a 4k build
