Turtle wax products are usually very basic in quality and ability, and for the money (assuming you've headed to halfrauds) a better alternative can be had online for a very similar expense.
Best way of doing it, IMO, would be to start with 1000 wet and dry (depending on severity of current condition) working up to 3000, then a cutting compound with either a D/A or a Rotary, then refining and finishing with a protecting stage.
You'll have a hard afternoon's work if you're doing it by hand.
I used a 3m kit, i think alot of other members have aswell. Headlights look like new now. Gives you an attachment for a drill so less elbow grease is required !
