Two Days!

  Clio v6

Just booked the V6 in for its 12k service. Two days they need to service it!

They offered to pick it up and leave a loan car with me. No mailto:f@ckin">f@ckin way I said, Ill bring the car, and my tent, and my flask.

2 days lol.... man... what they doing a complete strip down and rebuild? .... Suppose thats what you get for removing the rear seats and chucking a hugh engine in there eh!

I wouldnt mind but I have just read the "A" service shedule and basically they only change the oil, everything else is inspect.

But then again it took me almost a day to get the dipstick back in ( Hmmmm ? maybe that rattle is my dipstick stuck in the altenator )

They should have made the V6 like a Triumph Herald flip top:)

Dash

They probably need it for two days so that the mechanic can get a track day in at the same time on his day off!!

If I were you I would write down the mileage with a thick black marker on an A4 sheet of fluorescent card and put in on the dashboard!

They already know I put the mileage on a yellow post it note stuck on the speedo, and the tyre wear indicator is prominent.

How did you do that Dash? The picture showed up when I pasted it but then disappeared!!

He copied it into his own webspace and pasted it using his own link. Right click the image then properties. Its a good ruse for those sites that dont allow external references to images.

Same here GR but the pic was not on the server you linked it to ( common base error ) whatever the wotsit that means, and the file type *.JPG is missing on the URL.

I just nicked it and hosted it elsewhere.

Mine is going for its first service on Saturday - 3,300 miles or thereabouts so far. Lucky for me I only have to pay £8 for an oil filter + cost of oil. The service, plus brake checks etc will be very thoroughly carried out too - its not what you know but who you know!!

:D

£200 for an oil change??!! Crikey that sounds enough to fill ten Clios! Do you have the same oil filter as the 172 Dash?

crikey!!!

i ordered in a new ECU and loom, re plumed the fuel lines and serviced a V6 in 3 days!!!!

The V6 is dead simple to work ok simply cause thereis no bottom to it!! lol

they wont do much apart from rev it alot....when we had all 14 V6s in for a week all day long was V6s revving!

oh, and they did go on hard drives, but the owner concented as he was a gentleman racing driver and understood it needed to get HHHHOT for the problem to arise.....should of seen the que for the test!

dash, i was told its £200 for the oil change for the V6!! is that true??
My last oil & filter change cost £87.00

I had an oil change on the 172 and it cost £83.00 so thats not too much of a difference.

There is one mechanic who I know is a very good rally driver ( took me out in a 6R4 years ago ) Even if my car comes back with just 1 mile on the clock, it may well have been put to the test albeit by a decent driver.

So how much was the oil and what was the labour charge Dash? My Renault filter for the 172 cost £8.21 is yours the same?

GR Just out of interest, why are you servicing it at only 3300miles?

When I was in Edinburgh in the summer I took the car to Renault Edinburgh and left it with them for an MOT for the day. At the end of the day and about £400 lighter, I went home in it and noticed that the seat was in a markedly different position (higher, further forward) and theyd put 7 miles on it!! I was going to compalin, but it was too late in the day by the time I noticed and the next day I was off to Southend-on-Sea for the big Cliosport meet - so I forgot.

Fred - it was MOT stuff and general bits and bobs. I thought my car was pukka, but it needed new track rod ends, ball joits and (strangley) a headlamp re-align.

I was up in Edinburgh over the summer months and couldnt find any other garage that was convenient. Needless to say, I wont be going there again - but it hardly matters as Im back in Bristol/cardiff at the mo!

When my dad took his DB7 for a service it had 50mls added on! After the dealer made an investigation one of the valeters admitted to taking the car for his wifes annivesary meal overnight! He was subsequently sacked. Make sure you note down your mileage!

They did 3.5 miles. But how badly I wonder LoL
:D

Dash if those miles were as careful as the silver V6 at Crail last Sunday, you wont have much to worry about!!

Dash

Is your car running any better after its service? Mine is getting done this morning.

  CTR EK9 turbo

I got into a race against a "borrowed" customers car a while back. It was no ordinary car: a Bentley continental turbo R - well turbo charged bentley. Huge thing! I saw them drive past me as i was waited at a junction and thought "they look pretty young!" so followed them. They were driving quite erratically, and kept flooring it. I followed them onto the A3 and they booted it, these are serious boats - considering all the money and the torque its got it didnt really pull away(admittedly i was thrashing the guts out of mine!) but im sure over high speeds itd fly away. They weigh around 2 tonnes dont they? Anyway, we both parked up and had a chat. I was like, "nice car", and he said hed "borrowed" it - i thought it may have been stolen at first, but they parked outside a police station and the guy said it was from work and he was testing it. It belonged to some old rich dude and his chauffeur probably wouldnt care etc etc. Some people are cheeky huh. Although when i worked for a subaru garage, the temptation for a Derby Road toast was very high and took many a scoob to "dry them off". Didnt drive them any more violently than the owners would have done. Bit naughty tho....

One guy at my work (valletter) took a Gti-6 for a blast and drove about 20 miles away!! when changing gear he somehow managed to select reverse and had to get it towed home as it mashed up the 6-speed gearbox - not cheap im sure! A friend of mine burned out a clutch on a boaty 306. They even let him drive an oldish ferrari that was at the body shop! that was the day after i left......arrrrg!
