Tyre change

When do people change their tyres? When they are at the minimum limit or a little earlier? Also what pressures do you run?

What model do you drive? What size/make tyres do you run?

Legal limit is 1.6mm but it's recommended to change them at 2 or 3mm I believe.

Personally I'll drive on tyres of any depth, down to the legal limit, but will adjust my driving accordingly.

  Ph2 172 Cup
I've found before that you don't realise just how bad the grip in your tyres has got until you stick on a new set.

I'll typically go down to the legal limit, but will be a bit more conservative during the winter when there's plenty of rain and the risk of snow.

Or, go down to the legal limit and then use them on a trackday just to finish them off!

well i had mine changed today they were completely gone, bad i know, but got some toyos on there now, 36psi ive been told to keep them.

thanks guys. I'll get them changed and keep them knocking around in the shed incase I get a puncture and can't get hold of some PE2's for a while.

Btw, nice 172 Cup. Wasn't sold to you by Allvehicles was it? Background looks familiar thats all

  A shiny black one.
I change my tyres when I curb them and they go bang! Would still be on my originals rears if I wasn't in so much of a rush yesturday!

change mine at 2-3mm and always in pairs with top brand tyres.

a tyre losses hell of a lot of grip below 3mm and strugle to prevent aqua planeing.

depends on tyre size to what pressures run.

with my 205/40/17s on my clio run them at 26psi
my 195/50/15s run at 28psi front and 26psi rear

always use the better brand tyre or more tread tyres on the rear.

I've got 185/50/15's on mine atm. Down to 1.6mm of tread on the back, new tyres on the front. Would it be ok to change the rears to 195/45/15 or would the handling be messed up as they are different to the fronts?
