Tyre Wear

My front tyres are getting quite low... i already have new ones in the shed to put on after the Brands trackday.

my question is... is it best to have more tread at the front, or rear?

i could put the rears with more tread on the front for the track day?

/Dan.

front as those are the wheels that drive!

correct, but ill await the homos thatll say the opposite

Stick the good ones on the back.

Unless you like a challenge of swopping ends.

A good drivers whos always awake and drives well would be fine regardless but this is the real world.

at the moment the better tyres are on the back... and the worn ones are on the front.

for those that saw my front tyres at FCS after the tack.... they are still the same tyres! heh.

As long as the rears have enough legal tread + 1 or 2mm, theyll be fine!

Youll find that theyll last a lot longer on the rear too...

PS Does a tyre with 6mm tread grip a lot better than a tyre with 3mm tread?

In the wet, yes.

In the dry... the same? (possibly less if it overheats through too much heat build up? (Im thinking F1 where Wet tyres overheat if used in the dry!))
