Tyres

  Weeman sucks ****

Whats the general thoughts on the standard ContiSportContacts? I havent had a problem with them but I know Ill have to change all 4 next time round having just fitted new ones on the front.

What are the other options, Ive heard a lot about the Eagle F1s but arent they pricey?

If anyones in the winchester area or doesnt mind traveling I can prob beat most prices for tyres, fitted or otherwise. dan

I picked up my Clio from the fitters yesterday with 4 new 195/50 Goodyear F1 GSD3s.

They are sh*t hot. Only been in the dry at the moment, but I can easily carry a good5-10mph if not more in to corners. It really does feel glued to the road.

Dave Sheldons of Manchester did all 4 for £212 fitted. Thats (excl fitting) actually cheaper per tyre than mytyres.co.uk.

Now Im hoping it rains

Before you start shagging your tyres in approval remember a sh*t hot rating should only be given once you know how long they last, what the tyre roar is like, how good under braking etc.. ;)

Im on Yoko A539s. Pretty good tyres, very grippy in the dry. Think Ill go back to contis. The Yokos have absolutely no rim protection at all. The rims stick out from the tyres.

Rob. The tyre roar is no different. Theres more feel. And theyre better under braking (presumably because theyre stickier)

Im not fussed how long they last. It wouldve cost me another £20 per corner to have the original Contis on.

As for the Contis winning every tyre test, I havent seen them win one. The last Autocar test had the Goodyears and Pirelli P-Zero Rossos joint first. Third was Dunlop SP Sports and fourth was the Contis.

How do the P-Zeross fair up? I see them on most higher performance cars like porches, elises and my mate has them on his VX220.

Are they pricey?
