tz7 any good?

It's cheaper on amazon (if you got time to buy online)
I'm looking at buying one too, heard good things about them. Seems to get rated pretty highly.
But also read online about problems with the screen cracking... not sure how much of a problem this really is though.

TZ7 is brilliant for a compact camera, ive had one since they were released an no problems with it not even cracked screen, maybe cracked owner but thats a different storey.
Was a good upgrade from the TZ3 to the 7 i would say.

Hi Mate,
Seeing as you have a TZ7, could you answer a few Qs about the video recording?..
Just wondering how straight forward it is to take from the camera onto a computer & onto a DVD, is it just a case of copying a file off the card & pasting onto the computer?
Does the video need re-encoding to put onto a DVD to play on a DVD player, or play in Windows media player/VLC etc..

Final one, is there a limit to the length of video you can take? or is it just limited to the amount of space on a the memory card? and how much video would fit on say a 4GB card?

Just wondering as i'm looking for a new P&S camera and was hoping i can use this to replace my old MiniDV camcorder too for taking short vids, but i only have a netbook to put the files on, so 'Probably' can't do much in the way of video editing/encoding etc..
Just want to be able to archive videos on my kids birthdays etc..

I bought one of these a year ago, fantastic camera. I think HD video clips are limited to 15 minutes length at a time up to the capacity of the card used. It records in AVCHD Lite format so you would need software which can import this from the camera. I use a Mac at home so I am not sure what software comes supplied for Windows use.

iMovie 09 on the Mac imports the movie files from the TZ7.

I had a TZ6 (like TZ7 but without the HD recording) and until I dropped it, it was very good.
