Ultra rare Astra up for auction

  Ibiza SC
A unique 1988 Vauxhall Astra has come up for sale at auction, boasting just 57 miles on the clock.

The Astra GTE Quicksilver is a true one-off, originally commissioned by the Vauxhall plant at Ellesmere Port in Cheshire.

Its 'Quicksilver' livery was chosen to celebrate the silver anniversary of the plant.

The paintwork - white blending to dark silver - is a base coat clear system called 'Diamont' from the Inmont division of BASF.

The same colour scheme is used in the interior, where Connolly hide is used on the seats, door cards and even the headlining.

This Astra had never been on public roads until it was MoT'd back in February of this year.

The car has Vauxhall's GTE 1800cc engine and 5 speed manual transmission and is offered in virtually 'as new' condition.

Estimated to sell around £5,000-£7,000, classic Astra GTE admirers now have a rare opportunity to acquire a one-off piece of Vauxhall history.

The Astra GTE will go under the hammer at Barons' March 15th sale of classic, historic and thoroughbred motor cars at Sandown Park.
