Understeer Issue after Coilover fitting, Any ideas?

  silver 172 ff
Ok i dont really think its the coilovers that have done it.

But , I went out last night on a bit of a drive and when going round roundabouts it seemed to get about 3/4 of the way round then the front would start to understeers. Ok so not that much of a prblem then, But! its the way it is understeering that has got we woried. there is not warning no tyre screeching notthing just feels as smooth as before but starts to drift towards the outside. then when i lift off to pull it back in it takes an age to start to grip again and carry on round.

I havnt really noticed it on normal cornering. but its weird it doesnt just spear off in a straight line like i expect from cars that ive owned before. plus there is no lift off oversteer to bing it back into check i just have to lift off and wait and wait then it will have gripped again.

I have 3 month old piolt exalto's on the front. which could be the problem im not a fan of micheling but thought id give them a go.
And it has Some yoko's on the back.

I dunno if its just i have it set a bit too low at the front and rasing it up a little would help.

Its on FK Highsports and i have the tracking done a couple of days ago.

Any ideas on the problem would be great please

Oh yea its a 02 172 ff

How much has it lowered it?
you will nearly always get more understeer when you lower a car as lowering also messes up the camber on the wheels, giving less grip on the wheels, I had an astra before my 172 and lowered that, it looked better but had terrible understeer, especially in the wet.
you might have to get some ca,ber adjustment bolts or similar?

As said how much is it lowered by? Whats the damping set to?

Probably just a case of there cheap coilovers, do you think fk spent more developing them than renault spend on the standard suspension?

Blunt but true.

To be fair renault probably spent more time testing there dampers than HR etc etc. too

its lowered a lot the front tyre is almost into the arch. i think im gonna try raising it a little see if that helps. it handles better than before. just if the tyre squeeled or something to give me a better clue of what was going on lol

when you run out of suspension travel u induce understeer. try raising it and also ensure that the front is not stiffer than the rear. that wont help either. what spring rates are they allround???

the suspension travel could be the problem. i dont really know the spring rates its whatever comes on the highsport kit. the back is a lot stiffer than the front well it certainly feels it.

im really impressed with the kit the ride is great just i think im a little to low lol
ive seen foxy's and thought that looks good lol

Lol

I solved the problem it seems the camber adjusting bolt on the passenger side wasnt tight enough and was adjusting all the time messing up my handling. i found this out going through a big pot hole and it totaly adjusting leaving me thinking i had messed something up really bad, and to drive back a 50. lol
