unusual resolution for this screen size?

I *knew* it would be that Samsung before opening the link ;)

It's a wide monitor... 23" is a weird size.. usually 24".

The horizontal resolution is pretty impressive... :)

Nope. Not got one..

Apparently they are quite good - obviously very wide, so lots of side by side stuff can go on.

Have a look for some reviews on Google.

Thanks buddy,

I was wondering when the desktop monitors would start going 16:9. It's still quite rare but a few laptops have that ratio now. Surprised it's not just 1920x1080 though TBH. That would have made more sense for a 23" panel IMO for all sorts of reasons.

The whole point of it is to be "wider" though.. on that panel.
Samsung do the whole range of monitors around it (such as 24"), but they just wanted to be different on this one I guess..

the one linked is 2048x1152 though, still 16x9 so its the same ratio.

Most of our monitors at work are widescreen now, except mine as i was one of the first to get a 17" normal, so now i am the last to have one replaced, i dual screen with my laptop anyway, would like a widescreen though, they are cheaper than 4:3 now.

i thought all laptops, well the majority were now widescreen, i know all the hp are, i don't even think they do a non-widescreen anymore as i went to a training session and they said it costs them more now to put a non widescreen screen on them as there are fewer manufacturers so the price has gone up.

Yes they are, but most laptops and desktop panels are 16:10 ratio. 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1200 etc.

Only recently has 16:9 started coming out. Well in actual fact my 11" Vaio TX3 is also 16:9 but only recently have the bigger laptops started going 16:9. The Sony AW series 18.4" 1920x1080 springs to mind. There's another maker who also does one but I can't recall who.

My point is, that being 16:9, I'm surprised this panel isn't 1920x1080. It's still a very good pixel pitch for 23" and it would display native 1080p HD material without the need for any scaling. It's no big deal, I'm just surprised.
