*URGENT* Climate Control help

  BG 182
While driving to work this morning i switched on the Demister on the climate control panel, went to switch it back off and on to auto, and the fans wont switch off! Ive turned the climate control computer off but the fans are blowing on Full Power. All the buttons on the climate control are working and the air conditioning is working as i can hear it kick in when pressed. The only way of stopping the fans is to take the fuse out. Im hoping someone has had this problem and can direct me to the solution. ANY advice much appreciated before i have to take it to Renault to get charged £60 just for a diognostics check, which i dont think will show the problem anyway. :(

Heater fan control pack/resistor pack, do a search. Under the drivers side skuttle panel, will cost you 100 notes for a new one.

Just to show that some Renault dealers are on a different planet to us, i just phoned up to order the said part from the parts department, who told me without a Part number they CANNOT order me the part i need! WTF!

yeah its probably the resistor pack i had the same problem except the other way round everything working but no air at all.

Well got through to parts department and got told, Wait for it....."Yeah its either a Valeo or a Magnetti Marrelli Denso that you need". Thats after giving them my Reg number and VIN number! As bout as usefull as a glass hammer!

And none of the searchs i have done have given me a part number.:S

No needto a dealer can find it out from the car registration if the need the car part in there hand or a part then thats becuse the system doens't tell them which part you want so no point complaianing if there doing there best.

Just to clarify, your saying i have to take the car to the dealer for them to order the correct part, even though i have given them my Reg and VIN number? Surely they are going to charge me for the privelige of even lifting my bonnet.:quiet:

Some parts even Renault computer system doens't know what is fitted rear shoes are a prime example you have to get the part number the dealership can give you a few choices of what it might be but they don't know.

They might get the part out for you depends how busy/helpful they are they don't have to but it will help get the sale maybe. If they themselves don't know the part number then you have to accept someone is going to have to give and they don't have to try and fix your car for free just be polite and they are often helpful.

ALthough I'm sure form emmory all the cars with climtae are the same only the none climates are different as there from meoery 3 different types of units.

Why not just have a look yourself then you can phone them tomorrow with the correct manufacturers name?

As edde says, if there's three or so options they can only supply you with the options if they haven't seen the car for confirmation.

If you rang a supermarket and asked for tomatoes, would you complain because they gave you X number of varieties to choose from? :rasp:

I just tried to explain why Renault employees are stuck but I like that explaianiation even if its a bit mean.

Point taken. At least the problem as been identified, and they did say that either of the above parts were only £45 which has made me a little happier. ;)

Thanks for replies guys.

I'm guess they're trying to sell you the wrong bits there, its too cheap. There are two different systems whether its using climate control or normal heating.

The one i had was 77 01 051 272.

Yeh as edde says they're quoting you for the wrong bit, a FF with climate control uses PWM so its not a resistor pack and more expensive. Whereas a cup or non-rs without CC uses a normal resistor pack.

Sorry for asking probably a stupid question, but does the plug to the control pack just pull off or does it need a tool like pins for taking a car stereo out,as i have the new part but struggling to get the plug off it....i dont want to brake it....:S
